Security in the Storm

Storms of bereavement are keen; but, then, they are one of the Father’s ways of driving me to Himself, that in the secret of His presence His voice may speak to my heart, soft and low. There is a glory of the Master

It is good for me that I have been afflicted; Psalm 119:71

“Rude and blustering the winds of March often are. Do they not typify the tempestuous seasons of my life? But, indeed, I ought to be glad that I make acquaintance with these seasons. Better it is that the rains descend and the floods come than that I should stay perpetually in the Lotus Land where it seems always afternoon, or in that deep meadowed Valley of Avilion where never wind blows loudly. Storms of temptation appear cruel, but do they not give intenser earnestness to prayer? Do they not compel me to seize the promises with a tighter hand grip? Do they not leave me with a character refined?

“Storms of bereavement are keen; but, then, they are one of the Father’s ways of driving me to Himself, that in the secret of His presence His voice may speak to my heart, soft and low. There is a glory of the Master which can be seen only when the wind is contrary and the ship tossed with waves.

“Jesus Christ is no security against storms, but He is perfect security in storms. He has never promised you an easy passage, only a safe landing.”

Oh, set your sail to the heavenly gale,
And then, no matter what winds prevail,
No reef can wreck you, no calm delay;
No mist shall hinder, no storm shall stay;
Though far you wander and long you roam
Through salt sea sprays and o’er white sea foam,

No wind that can blow but shall speed you Home.

What Does the Bible Say About Trials?

But he knoweth the way that I take:
when he hath tried me, I shall come forth as gold. Job 23:10

What? shall we receive good at the hand of God,
and shall we not receive evil? Job 2:10

That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ: 1 Peter 1:7

It is good for me that I have been afflicted;
that I might learn thy statutes. Psalm 119:71

My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations;
Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience.
But let patience have her perfect work,
that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing. James 1:2-4

And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also:
knowing that tribulation worketh patience;
And patience, experience; and experience, hope: Romans 5:3-4

For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory; 2 Corinthians 4:17

But the God of all grace,
who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus,
after that ye have suffered a while,
make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you. 1 Peter 5:10

  1. Dear Kim, God does not use pain or the heartache of grief etc to Mold and Teach us as the Scriptures below and others confirm but yes Kim we can be assured He is with us through all of what Satan or life brings and He gives us His Strength to endure and yes all things He works for good in our lives but He does not do evil to bring good out of it.

    Lamentations 3: 33 For God doth not afflict willingly nor grieve the Children of Men.

    Psalm 9:8-10 And He shall judge the world in Righteousness, He shall minister judgment to the people in Uprightness. The LORD also will be a refuge for the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble. And they that know thy Name will put their Trust in Thee for thou, LORD hast not forsaken them that seek Thee.

    Isaiah 43:1-3 – Do not be afraid, for I have ransomed you. I have called you by name; you are mine. When you go through deep waters and great trouble, I will be with you. When you go through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown! When you walk through the fire of oppression, you will not be burned up; the flames will not consume you. For I am the LORD, your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Saviour.”

    When I became a Christian Kim and was learning God’s Truth, the Joy of knowing my 7 Babies were in Heaven and that we would be reunited one day was overwhelming, I Thanked God for the Joy I felt not that my Babies had died although I also do give Thanks knowing they have only known Joy in Heaven and remember none of their gestation as we too will not remember the things of earth that caused us pain or to grieve or will we remember those who are not in Heaven.

    Christian Love and Blessings – Anne.
