Holiday Haiku

Memories linger

Drift around and settle down

 In an empty chair

Precious memories, unseen angels,
Sent from somewhere to my soul;
How they linger, ever near me,
And the sacred past unfold.

Chorus:
Precious memories, how they linger,
How they ever flood my soul;
In the stillness of the midnight,
Precious, sacred scenes unfold.

Precious father, loving mother,
Fly across the lonely years;
And old home scenes of my childhood,
In fond memory appears.

Chorus

In the stillness of the midnight,
Echoes from the past I hear;
Old time singing, gladness bringing,
From that lovely land somewhere.

Chorus

As I travel on life’s pathway,
Know not what the years may hold;
As I ponder, hope grows fonder,
Precious memories flood my soul.

Chorus

  2. Kim, your website is a work of art. Your writing is amazing — from the heart, articulate and insightful. I’m a huge fan of poetry and God’s word (not necessarily in that order), and you are generously blessing your readers with both. Looking forward to future posts. Happy, happy Christmas!!!

  3. I love the fact that I get to experience your journey – I can never fully know what you are going through but you have given me insight so that I can begin to understand grief in a whole new way – for this I am truly grateful – this makes me a better pastor, friend, son, father and grandfather as I come along side others in their time of grief
