Believers of all abilities need the Scriptures

Before our children learned to read the Scriptures for themselves, they listened to hours (and hours!) of Bible story and Scripture tapes and CDs. They learned a lot of Bible and memorized a lot of Scripture this way without much effort on our part. The repetition of quality auditory media combined with appealing corresponding visual content has been especially effective for our son with Down Syndrome.

Bible memorization for the entire family

The following resource recommendations also have materials that are appropriate for people of all ages and abilities. Our family has found these two to be especially helpful for our special needs son.

Scripture Memory Fellowship The folks at Scripture Memory fellowship have a variety of Bible memorization tools and resources, both print and digital, for memorizers of all ages and abilities, even your littlest. SMF is ‘committed to helping you solve the “why” and “how” of Scripture memory with free and low-cost resources.‘

The materials at SMF are structured, organized, and easy to implement. Resources include Bible verse cards, award stickers, Scripture songs CDs, coloring books, topical memory books and courses, mobile apps, journals, and other memorization aids, all tastefully done in the Bible translation of your choice. Thy Word Creations produces Chapter Memory Systems™ Scripture Books with accompanying word-for-word Scripture songs that make memorization of entire chapters easy. An added benefit for me was since our children played these over and over (and over) again, I learned entire chapters, too, which is something I never would have thought I could do.

The scripture books have simple line drawings that our children enjoyed coloring. There is also plenty of white space which eliminates clutter and also leaves space where we glued family photos of high interest that helped illustrate the verse on the page.
