What Can I Do?

And she was in bitterness of soul, and prayed unto the LORD, and wept sore. 1 Samuel 1:10 Hannah's Song And Hannah prayed, and said, My heart rejoiceth in the LORD, mine horn is exalted in the LORD: my mouth is enlarged over mine enemies; because I rejoice in thy salvation. There is none holy …

The Resurrection of Christ – The Best-Proved Fact in History by Henry M. Morris, Ph.D

The bodily resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead is the crowning proof of Christianity. Everything else that was said or done by Christ and the apostles is secondary in importance to the resurrection. If the resurrection did not take place then Christianity is a false religion. If it did take place, then Christ is …

‘God, Thou Art Love’ by Robert Browning

This Evening’s Meditation – C. H. Spurgeon

O death! why dost thou touch the tree beneath whose spreading branches weariness hath rest? Why dost thou snatch away the excellent of the earth, in whom is all our delight? If thou must use thine axe, use it upon the trees which yield no fruit; thou mightest be thanked then. But why wilt thou …

The Unshakable

I don’t often re-blog, but I am often encouraged by Hannah’s posts. If you want to see courage and perseverance in real time, I encourage you to follow her on her journey. And check out her Etsy shop, Nannys Landing, where you can find cute gifts and other items like key fobs and head scarfs. Thank you, Hannah for showing us what choosing hope looks like.

Choosing Hope

Today it has been 11 years since we snuggled our little girl close and held her tiny hands as she took her last breath on this earth. Sometimes I am still so angry that I could not make her better. That’s what mamas are supposed to do; make things better. I had one big important job, and I could not do it.

Then I remember that WASN’T my job. I /wanted/ it to be my job; the job of being a mama that could fix things. Instead I was given the job of opening my hands wide of my own control. I was given the job of looking into the teary faces of three sweet, grieving siblings and teaching them to trust that God is still good, even in our hurting. I was given the job of white-knuckling a marriage that the statistics were stacked against because of the big…

A Short Walk on a Long Road

She was headed north, alone, on the gravelly edge of a two-lane highway. Her feet were beginning to hurt but they kept their usual steady pace. For over an hour, no car passed from either direction and no houses appeared. In fact, the nearest town, such as it was, lay ten miles back, just beyond …

Trusting in God

Reasoned Cases For Christ

Have you ever wondered why God places such importance on us trusting Him or having faith in Him? If someone asked you if Adam and Eve believed in God, I’m thinking the answer you’d give them would be “Yes”, because God’s Word tells us that Adam and Eve heard God walking in the garden in the cool of the day and they hid from Him (Genesis 3:8 NASB). So believing in God wasn’t the problem. Trusting God’s guidance over their own reasoning was.

And as we read through the Bible, have you noticed how having faith in God or trusting His Word, is elevated to a place of paramount importance? Consider Abram in Genesis 15:6 NASB, which states “Then he believed in the Lord; and He credited it to him as righteousness.” “Believing in” goes beyond acknowledgement, it moves into the realm of placing one’s confidence and…

Books About Heaven

There are plenty of books out there that claim to know something about Heaven. Many of them are full of dangerous misinformation and deceptive fantasy. The Bible, however, gives us the Truth.
