As a little boy, Hans would sing this hymn in the back seat of the car, all the way to town (45 miles), at the top of his lungs. It contains all the theology a little boy needs to know. Big boys, too.
Nothing But the Blood of Jesus
1 What can wash away my sin?
Nothing but the blood of Jesus;
What can make me whole again?
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.
Chorus:
Oh, precious is the flow
That makes me white as snow;
No other fount I know,
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.
2 For my pardon this I see–
Nothing but the blood of Jesus;
For my cleansing this my plea–
Nothing but the blood of Jesus. [Chorus]
3 Nothing can for sin atone,
Nothing but the blood of Jesus;
Naught of good that I have done,
Nothing but the blood of Jesus. [Chorus]
4 This is all my hope and peace,
Nothing but the blood of Jesus;
This is all my righteousness,
Nothing but the blood of Jesus. [Chorus]

Kim, thanks for following my blog. I am now following yours. 🙂
One of my fellow writers is compiling a book about losing a child and taking contributions from parents who have “been there.” May I give her your information? She may ask you to contribute your story.

Kim, thank you for sharing this time-honored legacy. I was not reading posts on Saturday, but this comes appropriately after yesterday’s blessings in worship and the Word. Our pastor is preaching through the book of Hebrews. Transitioning from the last verse of Chapter twelve to the first verse of Chapter thirteen, he explained that in the Greek, there are no chapters and divisions. To understand the connection between “Our God is a consuming fire” and “Let brotherly love continue” he related our heavenly Father’s work in us and the effect it causes between us as His people, able to endure all things because we share the work of the cross of Christ in our behalf. The statement that we together share in the blood-bath of our Lord was only one part of the sermon that drew the tears of love for the one who shed His blood for me. If you would be interested in hearing this heart-wrenching message, I can give you the link. Blessings for your week. 🙂

We recently went through Hebrews, too. I would very much like to get the link so I can hear the message. Praising God with you, Fran, for Jesus’ cleansing, healing blood.
