What Does the Bible Say About Itself?
The Bible claims to be the very Word of God. It is pure, righteous and will endure forever. It is the only book that is inspired by God and which promises to bless those who hear and keep it. Through the agency of the Holy Spirit, God’s Word has power to change hearts, to expose our thoughts and motives and to conform us to the image of Christ. God’s Word is Truth.
Psalm 119:160 – Thy word is true from the beginning: and every one of thy righteous judgments endureth for ever.
Luke 11:28 – But he said, Yea rather, blessed are they that hear the word of God, and keep it.
1 Thessalonians 2:13 – For this cause also thank we God without ceasing, because, when ye received the word of God which ye heard of us, ye received it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually worketh also in you that believe.
Hebrews 4:12 – For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
2 Timothy 2:15 – Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
Ephesians 6:17 – And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
John 17:17 – Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.
2 Timothy 3:16 – All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
Matthew 4:4 – But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.
Psalm 119:162 – I rejoice at thy word, as one that findeth great spoil.
Proverbs 30:5 – Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him.
1 Peter 1:24-25 – The grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away: 25But the word of the Lord endureth for ever.
