And they that know thy name will put their trust in thee: for thou, LORD, hast not forsaken them that seek thee. Psalm 9:10

This Evening’s Meditation–C. H. Spurgeon

O death! why dost thou touch the tree beneath whose spreading branches weariness hath rest? Why dost thou snatch away the excellent of the earth, in whom is all our delight? If thou must use thine axe, use it upon the trees which yield no fruit; thou mightest be thanked then. But why wilt thou …

Eight Reasons Why I Will Not See a Psychic Medium

What does the Bible say about psychic mediums? Since God forbids this sort of thing, He is not about to give special, private information to people who are profiting by disregarding His Word. Ignoring the clear command of God is never a good idea.

Pine grosbeak on a branch Psalm 55:22

Thoughts on Psalm 55

The writings of other parents who have buried children have been of tremendous comfort to me.  It is nothing short of a rescue at sea to read your own heartache in the words of another; to wail through sloppy tears, "Yes, that's just how it is!" Likewise, I often find my emotions voiced perfectly in the pages of God's Word.

“I’ll Be Right Back”

If Jesus rose from the dead, then everything he said is true; and if he did not rise from the dead, it is false.

Accident or Appointment?

"No, God does not do evil.  God is good.  But he does direct events here on earth and allows sinful man a lot of freedom to prove his utter hopelessness apart from the Almighty. And sometimes that gets pretty ugly."

Thoughts on Psalm 84

Just one day with God in glory is better than a thousand blessed days down here on the earth.  A day with Him in Heaven is jam-packed with unimaginable blessing.  The beauty of here is just a shadow - embryonic.  The wonders of there are beyond the scope of our perception.  There can be no comparison – our understanding is far too limited.

Hans (4 1/2), Defending the Last Frontier Eight days before Hans died, in Sunday morning worship at church, we sang the hymn “More Love to Thee” by Elizabeth Prentiss.  It is a challenge for me to sing this hymn honestly and I have always hesitated when beginning verse three which, in our hymnbook, reads: Let …

The Incomparable Christ

HE CAME from the bosom of the Father to the bosom of a woman.  He became Son of man that we might become sons of God.  He came from heaven where the rivers never freeze, winds never blow, frosts never chill the air, flowers never fade and no one is ever sick – no undertakers …

Precious

I can truthfully say, with a hurting, but thankful heart, that the Lord is preserving me through this trial.  I stand softened and malleable to his loving hand as He bathes my raw wounds with His love.  I experience a heightened sensitivity to his presence in the depths of my pain.  I believe I am …

Not Sure

"… I am quite certain I will see Hans again." Our son, Hans, like all of us, had his faults.  He was a sinner, as we all are.  Romans 3:23  1 John 1:8  Romans 3:10 However, Hans was saved - he was a Christian - one who has placed his trust in Jesus Christ alone …
