Safely Home

When that work is all completed, He will gently call you home; Oh! the rapture of the meeting! Oh! the joy to see you come!

A Pierced Heart

“If you have ever gazed upon your child’s lifeless body and tried to will it back to life with the force of your love, then you know what it is to have your heart pierced. No, not pierced . . . Demolished.”

It Must Be Bought – Streams in the Desert: November 3

Wrung from the troubled spirit, in hard hours Of weakness, solitude, perchance of pain, Truth springs like harvest from the well-ploughed field, And the soul feels it has not wept in vain.

Accident or Appointment?

“No, God does not do evil.  God is good.  But he does direct events here on earth and allows sinful man a lot of freedom to prove his utter hopelessness apart from the Almighty. And sometimes that gets pretty ugly.”

Gone From My Sight

Gone From My Sight I am standing upon the seashore. A ship, at my side, spreads her white sails to the moving breeze and startsfor the blue ocean. She is an object of beauty and strength.I stand and watch her until, at length, she hangs like a speckof white cloud just where the sea and sky …

Betrayed

Go to Him and find rest for your battered heart. He can bring relief in an instant. And then, when the pain crashes over you again, return to the One who can help you bear it. Again, and again go to Him. There is no other Comforter. None.

C. S. Lewis Grief Quote #1 from ‘A Grief Observed’

There is a sort of invisible blanket between the world and me. I find it hard to take in what anyone says. Or perhaps, hard to want to take it in. It is so uninteresting. After The Frost – Streams in the Desert 09/25

Why go I mourning” Psalm 42:9 Canst thou answer this, believer? Canst thou find any reason why thou art so often mourning instead of rejoicing? Why yield to gloomy anticipations? Who Do You Trust?

By definition, God is good and God is love.  Therefore, everything He does is good.  I trust Him on that basis.  I do not trust that He will do what I want or that He will spare me pain.  I trust HIM because He is wise and He loves me.

Precious in the Sight of the Lord
